My class is bringing fly fishing and algebra 2 together. They will learn about quadratics and then they are going to learn about fish and their habitats. Then they are going to combine the two topics. They will be able to analyze the motion of a fly while casting and also go catch fish, which is something my students have never done. They need these materials to be able to get in the water and really experience fishing. They will practice casting at school, but standing in a creek in the mountains is so different. It is going to be something that they never forget. And the goal will be that they can relate math concepts to real life!
