These supplies are to enhance my students understanding of world history by helping them to research and create presentations. My students are from a low-income area of Northern Michigan, sometimes they don't have enough food to eat, let alone have money to buy supplies needed to earn a good grade on a creative project. Having supplies available to them will hopefully make them see school as a safe environment where nothing is lacking. These supplies would be used for a variety of projects, from learning time zones, to inspirational figures in history, to understanding the world around them. By being able to work on these projects, the students will realize that historical figures were real people just like them. This will hopefully bring history to life for them and give them a sense of courage and determination to become more like admirable people than the sometimes grim reality they face everyday. I hope that they would learn that people can rise above their circumstances in life.
