Flexible seating in the classroom encourages students to make decisions that impact their learning. My students are taught to be aware of the places and seating options in the classroom that helps them do their best. Allowing students to find seating options that are comfortable for them leads to higher engagement in the classroom. I have seen student engagement increase significantly by simply providing the option to sit on the floor or stand while working. Flexible seating options empowers students to make smart choices for themselves. Students that have a choice of where to work in the classroom are more engaged, focused and comfortable. The wobble stools allow students to be seated while providing movement. The balance ball is a great option for students seeking comfort and movement. And as adults, we know it can be difficult to stay focused if required to stay seated in one spot for extended periods. The portable lap desks and bistro table will provide flexibility for students that want to continue to work without having to remain seated in an uncomfortable chair. I have seen the benefits of incorporating flexible seating in the classroom. This project will provide comfortable seating options, increase student engagement and allow students to make responsible choices.
