My students need to get their hands on great literature! These books will continue to encourage my students' interest and connection with literature. Over the past 3 years I have been building a classroom library that is full of rich, high-interest level books for my middle school students. I teach in a low socio-economic area and our funding is extremely limited. Most of my students do not have books at home, nor do they have the opportunity to have books read to them, as their parents native language is spanish. This creates a huge deficit in their awareness and knowledge of the world. My students need to be given the equitable opportunity to discover what awaits them in rich, relatable, high-interest literature. With this project, my students will have the opportunity to choose high interest books and discover the value of connecting to books. It is my passion to help students find books they love, value and connect with. I have had great success with this in the past and I need to expand my classroom library with these books. Thank you in advance for considering my request.
