Creating an organized classroom is essential for student learning. Research shows that having too much visual stimulation impacts a student's ability to focus. This is true for all students, particularly students with learning disabilities such as a visual processing disorder. As I am a teacher who supports mainstreaming students, I want my classroom to be welcoming to all, where they can feel safe. I plan to use these organizational materials to create a more streamlined, orderly classroom. This will make materials more accessible to students and limit interruptions throughout the day, as they develop college and career ready skills. For example, the crafts storage unit will be used to store classroom art supplies, and the storage bins will be organized by unit projects. The students will be able to access materials from these bins for use in their multicultural/family heritage unit.
