These books will serve as windows and mirrors for our students. They will be able to read books that allow them to see themselves in texts while also reading about different cultures and ideas. All of these books will be accessible to our students in our classroom library. They will be reading them independently this year! What an exciting thing! These books will encourage our students to see themselves as readers- to begin to understand that literacy is power. This is the beginning of the road to be a global citizen and a critical thinker. These are essential 21st century skills.
