My students have 5 year-old Chromebooks that are falling apart in my room, and I have used two laptops for delivering instruction plus student research stations. My Dell laptop is five years old, but today my eight year-old Macbook died. It is the one I used the most, and I was able to utilize some apps and websites in the classroom that are not feasible without that second computer. With this new computer, my students will have better access to the technologies and experiences that they would otherwise not have. This computer would enable me to deliver instruction from anywhere in the room, as it would integrate with other equipment to allow greater mobility. It would enable students to be able to utilize apps that are up to date, especially in economics, for graphing and market research. It would provide a second research station when we are working on historical research. Students would be able to use a full version of software like Word to learn citations and formatting for research papers, rather than relying solely on an app-driven platform on the Chromebooks.
