Books are like tiny universes that serve students in many ways. First, educational research suggests that providing students with MANY choices in high interest literature motivates students to read more, ultimately increasing their reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary! Second, authors' voices are such powerful tools for young people as they uncover who they are and what role they will play in society. By providing my students with access to high quality literature, we are not only helping them learn to be strong readers - we are giving them tools to develop into young adults with a strong sense of self!

About my class
