My project is to have beginning communication devices available for students to learn early communication skills before moving on to other devices as they gain new skills and make progress. Learning cause and effect with a switch device, as well as a starting level low tech voice output device enables these students to learn what having a voice can mean for them. They learn to make choices as well as learning that their choices have real results. Being able to communicate is a basic human need and all future learning stems from meeting that need. My students require a solid starting point to learn to request, comment and participate in life!
