When your body is moving your brain is more engaged in learning! When sensory needs are not met through active sensory play, the brain seeks out the movement it needs by fidgeting and wiggling. Many students struggle to stay in their chairs. A 2009 study suggests that one out of every six children has sensory issues that get in their way of their daily functioning and learning. When students use adaptive seating, they can fidget their bodies which will leave their minds free to focus and learn. In addition, it will promote body engagement and increased focusing ability. Therefore, the focus of the student then shifts from trying to stay still to learning something new!
