These materials will allow our classroom to have a REAL flexible seating experience. I am a first year elementary school teacher and find this approach in the class to be one that works great after using it during my teaching internship! The students will be able to choose where they work during independent work and centers time, most importantly making sure that they are comfortable. As mentioned before, the students in this class come from a rough environment at home, so we try to make school a place where they feel safe and want to be at. I know that these different seating options will give them something to look forward to when coming into our classroom on the daily, which will only help drive them. With these materials I plan to have 3 different flexible seating sections for the students to work and take charge of what they are learning. They will be used by 43 students daily. One section will have a kidney table dropped to make it a low table where they can sit on the wobble seats. The next will be a high table for math instruction with the stability balls. And thirdly I will use the bean bag chairs to have a "calm corner" for students to use at their on leisure, as most of the students need the occasional "time out."
