These materials will allow my students the ability to sit comfortably at my small group teaching station. The easel will allow my visual learners the ability to comprehend more easily. The dry erase portion of my table will aid my kinesthetic learners. This is where I am teaching my students a variety of ELA skills, especially how to use decoding and comprehension strategies to become better readers. When I tested my students at the beginning of the year, 57% were reading below or significantly below grade level. This is my first year in this district and we have been targeted for low test scores in our state for past years. My goal is to get every student I teach reading to as close to grade level by the end of the year as possible. A more comfortable place for them to learn will create an environment that is more conducive to learning.
