Our Freshman STEM Science class (80% grant-funded) is trying to go beyond 2nd hand tools and PVC pipe robot kits by having students learn 3D printing, CNC engraving and laser engraving/cutting. This tool will allow our underserved learners to make, create and customize objects including parts for their underwater robots! They can laser engrave their robot's name into custom printed parts or CNC brackets for their fins; the possibilities are limitless! Help our students take their STEM class to the next level by entering the digital creation realm! We've made solar-powered LED lights using discarded laptop batteries, we've built a solar-powered suitcase that was sent to power a primary school in Kenya and we've made solar-powered cell phone charging stations for students on campus. All of this we have done with second-hand materials or grant programs. Now we need to take it to the next level by having students learn CAD and digital design to enhance their projects and go to new places we haven't even thought of yet.
