The variety of flexible seating will continue to enhance fourth graders in their Reading and Writing environment. My classroom will be a place my students really enjoy-I sit on the carpet, on pillows, and even in student desks just to meet them where they are within student conferences. I want them to be comfortable so their creative and inspirational ideas soar through their reading and writing projects. Every student will get the opportunity to experience if nontraditional seating in the classroom works best for them as they strive to learn and grow. Students work more efficiently using stools, pillows, clipboards, and even a small little carpet or mat on the floor. They enjoy having a variety of choices sit throughout the day and week.. The different modes of flexible seating will be treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to have a choice as they learn. All of the flexible seating items have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school reflecting if they need a material for seating closer to the ground or with more comfort. I also have noticed some students wanting to stand or sit where they can work betting in cooperative groupings as they could using the shoe storage seat. Desks can be limited when forming collaborative groups. To top if off, I have asked students and colleges who have experienced flexible seating what types of modes work to bring out engagement, comfort, and success of student progress. I am so excited to bring a flexible seating environment to our classroom community.
