STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is becoming more integrated into Early Childhood classrooms. Early Childhood education is based on play and exploration. My students are entering the classroom with information, explorations, and observations they have learned from their home and community environment. I want to integrate the knowledge they have gained and learned within the home and community setting and connect it to the school environment This will assist them with understanding that various opportunities are implemented throughout all settings.
This exploratory science activity table will present my students with hands-on activities that will support different types of learning through using all of their senses. For some of my students, this might be their first experience with active exploration within their natural environment. I want to provide them with ample opportunities to enhance their thinking and problem-solving skills, in addition to their social interaction skills.
The students will have interactive activities with this table that will help enrich and teach them how to effectively explore and investigate. These activities will also help them learn concepts from all different subject areas within the early childhood curriculum. All activities with this exploratory science table will be developmentally appropriate and engaging, allowing for active growth and success.
This science exploratory table will be available daily for the children to use and explore in the classroom. I will provide activities based on my observations of the children's interests through their play and conversations. I will also provide access to the outside school grounds. I want to help each student become active researchers and explorers. The students will have exposure and access to various materials within the classroom as well as outside to enrich their skill development.
This opportunity will provide my students with disabilities unlimited access to their potential as investigators.
