My students work in groups to master interpersonal communication skills that will be used in all classes and in the future in employment. These are skills the students will need and that are reported to be weak areas by employers and teachers. In small groups they are better able to have discussions about the task at hand. They are emphasizing and cultivating skills that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. Sometimes the students are collaborating on a group project to solve real world problems while sometimes they are discussing topics that are brought up in class. I encourage them to work in groups to solve problems just like they will have to do in the real world beyond high school.
