With new flexible seating and fidgets, students will be able to choose the resources they need to help them focus and learn during general education and small group settings. Red Rhino books and culturally relevant literature will help progressing readers engage with reading in new and exciting ways, hopefully fostering a love of reading in what is an otherwise frustrating subject. Math manipulatives, especially for geometry, will help students envision and understand the ways that math is present in their everyday lives, helping them connect with the content and continue to progress. Since August, many of our students who receive special education services have grown 300-783% (as much as 3 grade levels) in reading and/or math! Though this is my first year teaching special education in a Title I urban school setting, I have witnessed amazing academic progress and perseverance from some of the most dedicated and deserving students I could ever hope to serve. These are resources they either do not have access to or our school does not have enough to support all learners, and being able to provide them to students will only increase student engagement and achievement. THANK YOU for considering partnering with us.
