Scholars in my classroom are preparing themselves to become the thinkers and leaders of the future. We know that the successful individuals of tomorrow are the critical thinkers and problem solvers of today. My students will use Microbits as a tool to understand and explore programming languages such as Snap!, Java, and Python. They will utilize the whiteboards to collaborate with their peers and derive solutions to complex real-world problems. Glue, scissors and pencils assist students in modeling problems and solutions with a hands-on component. Almost every aspects of our lives today run through some piece of technology, and my students will learn to program, create, and analyze technology and software to solve the problems of the future. Computer Science offers students a way to be creative in problem solving. Students that are not inclined to join the arts in school often find ways to be creative in app development and software engineering. The materials I am requesting will help give students the opportunity to find that creative spark, and maybe even discover a hidden passion.
