Every year most of my students come to school lacking the basic supplies needed in order to succeed in school. Having things like headphones, pencils, pens, markers and paper will ensure that all my students are prepared each and every day for my class. The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom. Students come down to the carpet with their whiteboards, markers, and erasers to model strategies, explain their thinking, or even just to “reveal” their answer. Dry erase markers and whiteboards are just more fun than pencil and paper. This allows my students to be actively engaged and excited about the work their doing.
