A healthy supply of pencils and Expos will help my students get the job done! My students love to write. Our Writer's Workshop is the highlight of our day. Throughout the year our pencil supply dwindles down to nothing. Many parents do not purchase additional supplies for their kids during the school year. Also, a high quality pencil sharpener is invaluable. I like to give the students an opportunity sharpen their own pencils each morning and with one sharpener the line becomes very long. Expo markers are great for showing Math work on slates. Different colors allow students to show multiple steps of their thinking process. Students love showing off their work to their peers in a whole class, partnership or small group setting. Using slates, students can compare work and highlight their thinking as they show off their ideas.
