Sensory materials and sensory rooms are beneficial to those who have ADHD and autism. Calming toys help children with autism relax when they feel stressed or overstimulated. A sensory room can provide a soothing effect when a person is experiencing a meltdown or sensory challenge. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive in class when they have an opportunity to work through sensory issues in a safe environment . By donating to this project, I will be able to build a sensory room that will be used to educate, stimulate, relax and calm the students. The room will provide security while increasing concentration and focused attention.

About my class
