Our poor room is empty and needs to be decorated. I'm looking to decorate to give them a homey feel in the class but also useful. Our room is a math intervention room, with small groups rotating in and out throughout the day. In an effort to maximize the space we have, we're looking to add storage options and decor to spruce it up. I want them to be comfortable and at ease as we work on their deficiencies in math. Our room should be welcoming and warm, giving students the comfort they deserve! There is not enough room for a teacher desk so I plan on using the furniture requested for storage and my teacher items. We have one kidney-shaped table that will be utilized for instruction. I've asked for stools to be used that are flexible seating and can allow students to have some movement while also working on math strategies. Students can get their wiggles out while sitting and learning. I've also added some math manipulatives to utilize with my students. The materials I selected are resources we can use to practice and learn math concepts. We will be progress monitoring students to see what areas are needed to be re-taught in smaller groups or one-on-one. While working with first and second graders, I will be focusing on number identification and the concepts of adding and subtracting. We currently do not have resources so we will be creating our own interventions until something is purchased. Our district is able to provide funds for some instructional supplies but that won't provide everything we could use.
