The various flexible seating options that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." This means that I know exactly where everything will go! I just need your help in getting everything into my classroom. The large carpet will be placed at the front of the classroom and it will be used for small group meetings, reading, and sitting to see the board. The floor cushions, beanbag chair, and folding chair will all be used for daily comfort within the classroom - students will have the opportunity to sit in these seats during lessons, individual work, partner work, etc. The stools will be used for small group meetings, as well as the occasional Book Club and Writer's Workshop. As a teacher, I want my students to feel comfortable within my classroom and these materials will make that possible. My students will be able to kick their feet up, relax, and actually enjoy learning instead of being forced to sit in uncomfortable plastic chairs for 8 hours. These materials will increase comfort, while also acting as an incentive for students to perform at their best. There have been countless studies that show how beneficial flexible seating is within the classroom and I want to bring in these materials so that my students can benefit as well.
