Since coming back from quarantine, I am seeing that my students are finding focusing is one of the most challenging parts of coming back to school. Flexible seating options can help to keep students focused on their work. Standing desks and stools will help students that need to move around while working. Wobble chairs will help students with ADHD engage parts of their brain to make learning new information easier. Having multiple seating options creates natural small groups which help students achieve speaking and listening goals (ELA SL.7.1, SL.7.4, SL.7.6) Many students do not have access to any creative devices at home. Middle school has many projects they need to complete and the Cricut will allow them to have some supplies at school to complete those projects. It gives them an outlet to be creative and helps make school fun.
