We are starting an eSports club at our Elementary School, because Arizona has recently added eSports as a varsity sport in high school. We want to give our students the opportunity to gain experience with competitive gameplay, streaming eSports events, and editing video to prepare them to be able compete at the high school and college level. Students will be using this computer to stream and commentate on school events, create and edit video, and learn how to organize eSports events. Students won't only be playing games, they will be learning how to work together on a team, and how to regulate their amount of game play/screen time to keep themselves healthy and mindful. 82% of our 5th & 6th graders play video games on a weekly basis and 42% play daily. Our eSports club will form a community of boys and girls who enjoy gaming and related activities. Instead of students going home to play video games in isolation, they’re playing among a community of fellow students. Students in eSports clubs are actively participating in activities, making friends, learning incredibly valuable skills that will help them in and outside of the classroom, and having fun while doing it.
