When it comes to America's heroic lineage, there is so much to discover. I want my students to be able to research and read about how they came to have the freedoms and innovations they now enjoy. I want them to be inspired by the people and events that laid the foundation of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. We must keep history alive. As Victor Hugo once said, "What is history? An echo of the past in the future; a reflex from the future on the past." I want to offer my students a chance to live the past by completing a research project on their favorite American Hero. The project will cover four main standards: reading comprehension, writing an informative piece, speaking and listening, and understanding citizenship. Please help me make this conceptional project a reality. The books and organizational items I am asking for will greatly improve the caliber of this project and provide my students with the necessary resources for success.
