Books are the mirrors, windows, and sliding doors for ALL students. Literature should mirror the students themselves as well as provide opportunity for students to gain perspective. No matter where you are from or what you have experienced in life, books open doors to another world. In second grade, we are learning to strengthen our reading skills and to strengthen our reading stamina. We are learning to love to read together. Many of the books I have chosen are culturally relevant as well as books that helped me grow to love reading myself. I wish to establish a desire to read and learn within my classroom through these pieces of classic and new literature.
