“Sports not only build better athletes but also better people.” -Julie Foudy
At our school, we strive every day to empower our scholar-athletes to grow as learners and leaders. As anyone who has participated in athletics at any level can attest, sports are a key aspect of the growth of many young people. Our basketball program is entering into its second year of competition, and we need your help!
Our scholar-athletes are hardworking and committed individuals who are fighting not only to achieve their best scholastically and academically but are also fighting to overcome systemic injustices that plague their community. Our scholar-athletes strive every day to better themselves academically, personally, and athletically to achieve their true potential and open opportunities to attend an excellent college all while facing the realities of subpar equipment. That’s where we need your help.
Many of our scholar-athletes can’t afford to purchase the equipment they require to compete on an even level. We’re seeking donations to help obtain warm-up clothing. This will allow our scholar-athletes to foster a strong team identity to empower them to succeed both on the court and as leaders in our school off the court.
Last year our scholar-athletes saw their classroom behavior drastically improve and their average GPAs increase significantly. Several athletes saw their GPAs rise by over a full point and saw disciplinary incidents fall to a third of their previous frequency. The growth our scholar-athletes experienced because of sports is obvious and vitally important. They deserve to have equipment that accurately reflects their dedication. We cannot procure that equipment without your help.
