As a second year teacher, I am still working on expanding my classroom library to serve the reading needs of my students. Currently, though I have started collecting books, there is a major gap in books that include stories with LGBTQIA protagonists. Funding this project would help me to create a section in my library with books that feature LGBTQIA protagonists so that my students are exposed to diverse characters and feel their stories valued in my classroom. This is highly important to me, as I have had several requests this year to add more LGBTQIA books to my library, but have been unable to do so personally due to a lack of personal funding.
