I have one odd corner in my classroom that is the perfect reading or small group nook! I have picked up used furniture at garage sales, but over time it has broken. I am working to increase reading in my science classroom this year, so I am hoping that a nice new seating area will be the perfect incentive for my students to dig into a great science related book! Remember those science lab tables? Yep - we still have them and our stools that make everyone cringe as they scrape across the polished floor. Tennis balls are frequently used to help quiet these clunky chairs. I'm ready to join this club and hope it will soften the lab which can appear cold and loud at times. The final addition for our lab rehab is the light covers which help to diffuse the fluorescent lights! This not only can help with headaches and focus, but I hope to paint on them and bring another point of science interest into my room! Unfortunately in South Dakota we are inside due to cold and snow much more than I would like. I hope this rehab project will help the lab feel more welcoming and a place students want to come and even hang out when they are not in class!
