The items from this project will be used as flexible seating options and will allow my students to work in collaborative groups while being in an environment that is under their control. Many of these students feel as those they have little control over what happens to them, flexible seating will give them the freedom to choose where they work, and with whom they work. Giving them the ability to choose their seating allows them to practice making good choices in a controlled environment, which will translate into making better choices out in the world. These seating options will also allow my students to be more comfortable which makes it more likely that they will want to be there and make a greater effort to come to class. Getting them to class is a major step in the right direction and anything that I can do to help them achieve is a project that is worth while.
