Many of my students do not think they can read because they have not had the chance to be introduced to books at their ability level while letting them feel success and to enjoy reading. These books will cover reading standards of compare and contrast stories, grammar, and sight words. These stories will challenge my lower readers while giving them a chance to be challenged without noticing the challenge because they are having so much fun with the stories. As they enjoy the stories, they will be more engaged with answering comprehension questions rather than sitting quietly hoping they will not be noticed and called on.
