My mission is to make my classroom a home away from home. For some of my students my classroom is an escape from the real world. In some of their worlds, they are having to grow up too fast and take on the responsibilities as an adult. Many of my students come from low income families, and single parent homes. I am trying to transform my room into a safe, comfortable, and welcoming space for my students to learn, grow, and develop into fine young men and women. The carpets will help warm up my classroom, and cover some gross spots on the carpet. They will also provide a space from my students to sit and read. The stools and cushions will allow the students to work around the room. The flexible seating will help aid my active students and help them focus.
