My class is in need of the specific books and literacy tools that I have selected. These items will assist me greatly in achieving my goals of diversifying each lesson. For example, if I read a story to the class and then discover a student is struggling with comprehension, I will be able to adjust my teaching method. Some students may need vocabulary expansion to gain better understanding when being read to. Many of my ELL students would gain knowledge of positional words with the use of the Fox in the Box activity set by Learning Resources. I could use the Laurie Pocket Chart Cards to assist any student(s) who may need to work on story sequencing. Whatever the need, I will be able to set specific individualized goals for each student. Some students may simply need to have a hands-on learning experience in order to engage and be connected. I could use the Wiki Sticks to create a fun way for my students to learn letter recognition, as well as numbers and shapes. Those basic literacy and math concepts are extremely important in Prek. Those are only a few examples of how these books and tools will allow me not only to meet the individual needs of my students, but also to diversify teaching for the class as a whole. It is extremely important that each one of my students engage in daily lessons in whatever capacity that they connect with most naturally. These books and tools will help me make this happen!
