We hope to create a sensory room that will provide a therapeutic space for our students with autism and other special needs. It will be a quiet place inside of our classroom dedicated to promoting mental alertness, self awareness, and relaxation. Our sensory room will produce a calming effect on students prone to frustration as well as passive students in need of stimulation. We'll design this sensory space using soft lighting, comfortable seating, calming sounds, interesting visual objects, and stress relieving therapy tools. Our goal is to maximize quality learning time engaged in the classroom by meeting various sensory needs in a controlled, safe and structured environment.
