Books are the bridge to greater learning, strong fundamentals, and the scaffolding to comprehension. I have seen firsthand how much reading and comprehension can affect other areas of learning - math, science, social studies. The effect is great. When students have a strong base and knowledge of words, other subject matters can be easier to learn. I am a first-year preschool teacher and I want to give my students the gift of reading, as well as the ability to read books interesting to them. I want to provide for them the base for their future learning. Reading and letter comprehension taught at an early age will help my students grow to be better scholars in the future.
