My goal is to improve focus and relieve anxiety in my classroom by creating a calm and relaxing workspace. Studies have shown that light filters cut down on the harsh glare and flickering from the fluorescent lights. By doing so, this allows for less headache and eyestrain. The change toward flexible seating is also something I am moving towards in my room. It is hard for students to concentrate after sitting in hard plastic chairs for 8 hours a day. By providing them with other alternative seating, they are able to enjoy the literature they are reading and able to comprehend and analyze what they have just read.
