As a first year teacher, I have a small classroom library. It takes a lot of time and resources to collect books. I am also teaching in a new school, only one year old, so the resources in the library are also limited. Children need books to be excited about learning. The more diverse the library is, the more the students will be able to explore their passions, interests, and curiosities through reading. I also want to collect books that will help students to learn open-mindedness about their abilities. Teaching students about growth mindset helps them to see challenges as learning opportunities which is a skill they will need throughout their lives.
