My 680 1st-4th grade art students are full of creative energy! They had the opportunity to learn the 3 basic clay methods last year. It was awe inspiring! We had every students clay piece in a spring art show and they were so proud to show their family members and friends. And of course, take their artwork home! My goal this year is to show how using a pottery wheel n molds is just another way to tap into the Earth's gift of clay. The students enjoyed playing with the clay and creating their own hand built unique piece of art. We made 3 dimensional masks, modern fossils, tooth fairy pinch pots and textured hand bowls. We were able to glaze them and make them shine! The process was enjoyed by all three consolidated elementary schools put into one building for the first time in our school district. They will be prepared to continue their creative journey when they move up to the middle and high school art classes! The students will have the basic knowledge and experience to pursue the creative dreams!
