Dr. Stephen D. Krashen stated that "People acquiring a second language have the best chance for success through reading." Many students lack the time and/or motivation to read for pleasure. They look at reading as something that they have to do for school but hardly ever consider it a fun activity. I want to give my students the opportunity to read for fun with no additional work assigned other than to simply enjoy reading. With these books, I want to incresse the variety of themes and levels of my “Biblioteca en Español" so that students can find a book that they enjoy. Having success in comprehending these novels (written for Spanish learners) will greatly increase students' confidence, motivation, and proficiency. The books that I am requesting have been carefully written by leaders in the field of foreign language teaching.
