Thank you for your consideration! When the coronavirus pandemic hit our nation, my students and I did the best we could to continue the learning that was taking place in the classroom. I immediately went out of my comfort zone by creating a YouTube Channel, where I would upload instructional videos for my students to watch. I also held weekly homework help sessions using Google Meets. Furthermore, I participated in several zoom conference calls with staff members, administration, and parents. As you can see, video technology played a huge role in keeping my students engaged while learning at a distance and maintaining a high rate of communication with my coworkers, administration, and parents. However, the equipment I was using was sub-par and caused many technical errors, which lead to hours of waste and several headaches. This project will give me the technology needed to create high-quality remote learning my students deserve during the coronavirus pandemic. Specifically, the webcam, accessories, and headset will allow me to make high-quality, engaging instructional videos for my students to watch and learn on my YouTube channel. These instructional videos will cover all standards, including social-emotional learning, English Language Arts, math, science, and social science. Additionally, I will use the webcam, accessories, and headset to have clear, uninterrupted video conferences with both my students and their parents. Having this high-quality equipment will make the focus of the video conferences be more on the learning and communication and less on the technical difficulties such as unclear image and sound. This is especially important when communicating with English Language Learners and their parents who primarily speak Spanish and need a translator.
