Many of these students live in poverty and cannot afford anything extra. The largest need I have seen is for basic equipment. The reeds will help those who want to play a woodwind instrument and cannot afford to buy and replace them. The second largest need I have noticed is for school equipment to be in proper working order. The drum head currently on the snare drum has been warped due to use and exposure and is unusable. The new drum head will give life to an instrument for the percussionists to use. The cover will protect the xylophone that is currently uncovered and susceptible for damage. This will help the instrument last much longer and protect it from any harm. The metronome is an invaluable resource. The school has limited technology and without the access to a proper metronome, the ensembles struggle to stay together and create beautiful music.
