The TI-84 CE's are practically indestructible, so if dropped, they are not likely to break, unlike the current old calculators we have. The CE's are in color, so when we are graphing, we can see our different linear functions in various colors, that are clearer to see then the old 84s that are gray on gray. The CE's also have updated features, like being able to use rational numbers in their actual form opposed to the old 84s converting everything to decimals. Our district does not have any plans to purchase any CEs for us and each day, more and more of our old calculators are dying. My students are getting frustrated with the old, beat up calculators, and I am right there with them. It would be wonderful to have a full set of 30 new CEs for the whole class to use. But we will be happy to start with having a set of 10 at a time for now.
