My students may never go on a jungle safari or go deep sea diving, but allowing them to handle and play with animal models will spark their curiosity and imagination. They can place the animals in structures they have built and then engage in dramatic play. A mystery box will trigger brain functions and teach them to use their sense of touch to determine what’s inside. Finally, a bean bag in our cozy corner will give children who may become over-excited or upset a cozy, comfortable place to relax and calm down before preceding to the next adventure! The bean bag will give them a safe place to deal with big emotions.
