My students are hard working and have A LOT of personality. Here you can see students in the middle of a well-deserved brain break. We are a desk-less classroom, which means we use chairs (and clipboards to write). Students LOVE this because we have plenty of space to get up and move around during moments like these or during other activities. I do tons of group activities like this one to build community in the classroom. Over the course of the year, these students got to know each other very well. The trust that they build makes them less scared to speak Spanish and they end up feeling really confident at the end of the year with what they've learned. A lot of students come from difficult situations at home, and it's amazing to see them light up in class in spite of the stress they are dealing with. My goal is always to make the classroom as comfortable as possible- physically, mentally and emotionally.
