The materials I've selected will allow my 5 year old students to work on their socialization skills as they work and play with each other in our dramatic play center. They will be able to make and serve a wide variety of play food and learn how to properly set a kitchen table. The construction center is going to be awesome! We will have a variety of building blocks and gears for the kids to create and build with. I've selected both a table and a rug for this center because I believe the kids need options. Some will want to stand and build. Others might want to lay on their bellies and drive cars on the rug. Play-based learning is super important, especially at this age! Allowing the students the opportunity to play, explore, and experiment helps them with a wide variety of skills. Speech and language development, problem-solving, and social skills are just a few of the areas that will unknowingly be used while the students are playing.
