Often times my students ask to read and write on the floor to stretch out their legs. Often times I see these students often become more focused once this change in seating is given to them. I therefore want to give my students the seating options that will help them feel the most comfortable completing the challenging tasks given to them in a gifted and talented environment. Think about where you are reading about this project....I doubt many of you are sitting at a desk! Often times we want students to remain in a desk for 6 hours a day but forget we often times do not sit for that long ourselves. This flexible seating area of my classroom will give students the option to stay at their seats or move to a different environment, provided they are still putting in their best effort.
