As I am just starting off in my teaching career, I haven't acquired much of the furniture that teachers have in their classroom. First, my classroom does not have a rug. I believe that times when students can gather together to learn are very important to their social emotional learning and their academic learning. I see this rug as a place where we can meet together to learn and read together, and a place for students to do work independently. I also am looking to acquire a table to work with small groups during reading, writing, and math workshop. The stools that I have included will give my students seating options when they are in a small group. Finally, the bookshelf will be a great place for me to organize my classroom library. I hope to give my students opportunities to read from many different genres, and a bookshelf like this will help me sort different genres. I want my students to have a classroom where they feel safe and comfortable, and these items will help them do so. Thank you for helping me get my first classroom started!
