I do my best to accommodate students from Pre-K to 5th grade when they come to my art classroom. Currently, I have a hard laminate floor. I have been utilizing small rugs (18x31-Doormat size) that were donated to me, however, they are not stable and constantly shifted; which became a safety hazard as the curled edges and all the shiftings made it easier for students to trip over. Almost all of my 600 students start the day at the carpet when they come to art. I would love for my students to have a nice large carpet to sit down during carpet time. During the first 10-15 minutes of class (carpet time), students get the opportunity to share, watch my art demonstrations, get a closer look at the art references that are being shown, as well as listen to my instructions. At the carpet, the students have a better view and they can also hear better. Carpet time is a great time for students to focus and be on the same page as the teacher and everyone else in the classroom.
