Having an appropriate reading level novel will allow my students to gain grade level knowledge that will prepare them for future education without being frustrated. The novel, "The Indian in the Cupboard", will will allow my students to read independently, utilize and further develop their reading skills and grow to love reading! Reading is a critical skill and weak readers are intimidated with reading resulting in not reading at all. My goal is to build their confidence in reading while they are learning the essential literary devices. Special Education students are, often, not given appropriate materials which creates frustration and a lack of interest and effort.
